SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES

WE VALUE SPIRITUAL GROWTH.

Because the cultivation of the personal spiritual life of each student is one of its major objectives, the college stands for that which will provide food and strength for the spiritual nature and against that which would encourage the appetites of the carnal nature.

Private devotions - Students are expected to maintain personal "quiet hours" at the beginning and end of each day. Habits formed at college set the pattern for the future.

Classes - The College seeks to conduct all classes with an emphasis and atmosphere that will promote spiritual growth and maturity along with the attainment of academic goals.

Prayer - Each class, meal, and meeting begins with prayer. There are also Ladies Missionary Fellowship sessions, "twenty-four hour" prayer meetings, and days of prayer.

Chapel - Attendance at chapel service is required. There is a variety of programming during the college year in order to meet many different student needs. While the majority of the chapel hours are conducted as worship services, such services are interspersed with prayer times, and other programs of interest and academic or spiritual benefit. During the year, students will hear speakers of broad experience chosen from a wide variety of ministries throughout the world.

Special Speakers - During the course of the college year, a number of special speakers are brought to the Bethel Baptist College campus for seminars, special classroom instruction, and addresses to the whole student body. These people are well-known Men of God.

Local Church - Bethel Baptist College students are expected to attend Bible Baptist Church unless the student comes from a Bible believing church in the area. Students are expected to participate in Sunday School, worship and evangelistic services, prayer meetings, and other activities.

Missions Emphasis - Each winter, missionaries participating in church missionary conferences are invited to speak in chapel during the week that these conferences are scheduled. Many missionary fields are represented and the challenge of worldwide missions is stressed.

College Missions Trip - The student body takes a mission’s trip once a year. The destination is determined by the administration and specifics are told to the student upon registration. The cost of the mission’s trip is divided up into the student’s monthly payment. If the students do not wish to go on the trip or the dates will not work for them they are allowed to opt out of going with the group. However, if they choose to add the cost of the trip to their bill every month then they must fulfill the obligation of going. If the student decides mid-semester that he cannot go, payments on his trip will end immediately, but the monies already deposited toward the trip will not be refunded. This trip is a unique opportunity for the students to get more acquainted with the staff members, and also a great opportunity to see the Lord work on the foreign mission field.

College Days - This is a special time dedicated to high school juniors and seniors, those out of high school, or married couples who are seeking the Lord’s will in attending a Bible College. Usually, the last Thursday-Saturday of February is secured for this time. Those attending have the advantage of attending college classes, listening to powerful and challenging preaching, and enjoy lots of fun-packed activities.
